@Dbot There are only two kinds of anti-Zionist Jews.

1: (the majority) are Communists, who hate all religions (except the Russian Orthodox church and Islam).

2: Some Orthodox Jewish sects.

Both groups have Holocaust deniers in their midst, but only the Orthodox Jewish community has cast those out.

The Communists have allied themselves with neo-nazis and other Holocaust deniers and openly share the neo-nazi talking points about Jews.

@Dbot @Render I used to think if people just knew more, that would change, especially in places like this. I have watched it too long here to believe that now. I should have known better (I'm old enough to have known better) but I have seen it in people I thought much better of.

@Dbot This is a wild guess, but I think they don't *think* they hate Jews. I also think they don't *really* know what Zionism is when they say they hate that.
I don't believe the majority of folk who say such things would consider themselves hateful *at all*.
In other words, I think it's as much an education issue as anything else.

That does not make it right, or loving, or kind to use such rhetoric, but it perhaps explains how good people get sucked in by bad information. 😥

@Dbot I'm thinking particularly of "Zionism".
A quick google throws up several definitions from Jewish Nationalism, with the goal of the creation and maintenance of a Jewish homeland in Israel, to an African Christian sect.
Some include the idea that Jews are a race and some do not.

I reckon most folk who say they are anti-zionism don't have the first clue what it even means. Which come to think about it, essentially means they hate what they don't understand. Are we surprised? 😥

@Dbot And "lack of education" doesn't fit faculty at Ivy League schools who decry "settler colonialist racist Zionism", nor the students protesting at those schools. But certainly not the faculty. These are people with PhDs who have imbibed hatred of Israel, and by extension—whether they care to admit it or not—Jews, since they were in graduate school. @stueytheround @Render

My dad had a high school education. He then fought in 3 wars for two different nations.

He spoke at least 7 languages fluently and could make himself understood in several more.

He finished his active duty career by teaching military history at West Point.

@Dbot @Render @LiberalLibrarian @stueytheround I have a high school diploma - graduated a semester early - did all my first 9 weeks in about 2 weeks and started working construction. Went to trade school for carpentry to join the union.

school is great for the basics of education tbh but a lot of things are learned just by living. also some folks just can't be taught so there's that also.

@stueytheround @Dbot @Render My introduction to BDS was countering white nationalist trolls attacking people for being jewish then arab nationalists and supposed democrats waltzed in and joined the attacks. Right next to comments about river/sea, no right to exist, go back to europe, big nose, banks, rothchilds, etc were people saying they were accused of antisemitism if they criticize government. They couldn't even wait till slurs cleared a screen before they denied it.
