This is actually rather encouraging.
@RationalLeft Now I read the last bit about 1/4 people being just straight up drinking the kool aid and I'm suddenly really depressed while also encouraged?
@tippitiwichet There are always hateful people in any sample... especially online.
@RationalLeft A fourth, though? This is so much worse than when I was younger. Even here, in red Oklahoma, there is no way a whole 1/4 of my peers would have said "yeah, I bet that was all exaggerated." I don't think this is simple human nature. We really need a focus on critical thinking skills in our education system, to combat misinformation, and that's not happening. Often on purpose.
@RationalLeft Pardon, my wandering mind didn't make it clear the "1/4 of my peers" was way back in the 90s.
Now I'm starting to think of how many teachers I had who dealt with the low pay here and preached critical thinking, I'm suspecting perhaps such teachers were pushed out at some point.
@tippitiwichet I don't think it's a random sample. West fans are going to have a core who like his hatefulness.
Although Holocaust denial, or at least "skepticism," does break 20% in polls I've seen.
@tippitiwichet Let's just say that a certain type of West-loving cohort is likely to be more passionate and committed to the hate than the 20+% who are often just ignorant.
