@cjcrew I hear you on those points. The pain and time of trying to get through to a real person (and then listening to their sales pitch).
Fortunately our company doesn't want their old TV equipment back. They said just take it to an electronics recycling center. So that makes it much easier.

I would guess that for 90% of the years, in Edmonton there is snow on the ground by Nov 15th - 2008 was an exception. These photos show that even 2 weeks after that (on Nov 29th) it was still snow-free:
