Next up is the SCOTUS decision to allow businesses to discriminate bases on their faith. Apparently this has come from the claim that some designer didn't want to work on a same sex marriage invitation. That claim is allegedly false, in that the subject of said request didn't ask for the services, and isn't gay.

Does that not render the SCOTUS decision "fruit of the poisoned tree?"

OOOH! They mentioned Mastodon and Bluesky. I tried those. CoSo is superior, by far.

My biscuits are kinda burnt.

Twitter in the news. I typically avoid Musk news/articles, as I believe that most of them are paid for by him. However, the "tweet limit" news hits home, and has pushed me (gratefully) to this platform.

What the news is avoiding to mention is the mass exodus from Twitter to other platforms.

Chyrons.

Chyrons can be so ridiculous.

CNN has "The Fourth in America" very dramatically at the bottom.

I'm so happy to see Audie Cornish in the chair. I've been listening to her for years, obviously starting with NPR. Her being there is clearly an attempt by CNN to polish their reputation. But I think I'll just come out and say it: she's too good for CNN.

@Cherokee

You'll find lots of us. Welcome.

The water's warm... but in a good way.

Doesn't the consolidation of wealth among the 1% influence drug-addiction-of-despair?

The Meet the Press chiron is saying that fentanyl is "The leading cause of death among Americans under 50." I believe the same thing was said about guns recently.

I don't know what's true, but it feels sensational.

Meet the Press panel.

Lori Lightfoot: got a bum deal.

@CanisPundit

In fact, I am.

I'd like to know their current role in this.

Meet the Press is interviewing Sherrod Brown. I generally like him. He's a worker. He's saying all the right things...

...a little TOO right. πŸ€” Lol. I jest.

Now Meet the Press is interviewing JD Vance. He's a windsock. We know this. There's a very clear record.

He says he's been personally touched by this problem. I know the feeling. A full 10% of my high school graduating class is now dead because of opioids; not an exaggeration.

Still, I feel that he's so adamant because it's no longer an "inner city" problem. Or a problem with "fatherless households."

Anne Milgram is saying that the gov't needs to get data from social media in order to fight the war on fentanyl. We know how much we can trust the gov't with expanded powers to raid said information banks. I don't trust this. This feels like misdirection.

Anne Milgram, the head of the DEA is saying that we have to go after every aspect of the network that is perpetuating the fentanyl problem. She seems to have a very large blind spot, which is the US gov't, itself. What is their contribution? They are not blameless in the drug war which is the precursor for this current issue.

And so Meet the Press is doing a "very special" after-school special about fentanyl.

Yes, I unfairly downplayed the seriousness of the problem. But I can't help but come back to this response to the "crack epidemic." This problem feels like a clear extension of that epidemic, and war, which was caused and fought by the same source: Reagan and the Bushs'.

This situation is WAY more complicated than what we're being told, and then all News are profit from its sensationalism, warranted or not

Ok, people, one of my favorites, Meet the Press is on tomorrow morning at 10 am EDT. We're going to start with that.

Chuck Todd has grown into quite a formidable journalist, even since the beginning of his moderation of said program. Alas, he's leaving soon, if he hasn't already. His replacement, Kristen Welker, is also quite good. However, I'd prefer her as an addition, rather than a replacement. Chuck is probably the perfect successor to Tim Russert (RIP).

See you people in the morning!

@HellJasterr

No thank you. He can fuck himself very much.
