PSA, to all #CoSoNauts I might be a little scarce over the next few weeks to a few months with some news that dropped on my lap about my therapist through his wife/assistant. He's being forced to take an indefinite leave of medical absence due to a neurological event that occurred two hours before my last appointment with him two weeks ago. He's in the best of care, but his wife informed me that this condition has a low survival rate. I fear I will be preparing for a funeral before New Years.
I'll be okay, the alters will settle down, it's just...I looked forward to my time with him and talking to him about literally everything under the sun, we both had our troubles and honestly we kind of learned to rely on one another for advice and perspective that kind of railed against what therapist-client relationships normally were like. Hell, he was the one that told me I would make a fine therapist if I ever chose to pursue the path.
@PaganMother It sounds like every moment with him was a precious gift .
@Lavransdattar They certainly were, I learned a lot from him and he from me. His wife as well by extension with handling the patient files I'm sure. I just hope that if he passes, it's not painful to him.
Jason would want you to muster the strength to deal with the vicissitudes of life.
His and yours.
That is how you honor his work with you. 💙
@LnzyHou Oh I know, he would rail against me grieving, at the moment he's not able to speak, paralyzed on the right side and barely able to speak even to his wife, but I left my door open to her to let her know that she has a friend to confide in and for support should she need another's perspective, and that I would not let her down.
We’re here for you too.
@PaganMother thank you for sharing about your friend Jason, adding you and his family to my #PrayerRequest diary.
Sending prayers for both your households in this season of change.
@Mauve_matelot Thank you dearly Mauve, it's very much appreciated.
@PaganMother how are you ?
@Mauve_matelot Just hanging in there, the medicine rounds are helping get me back on track at least. Coughing is down to a minimum, sleep schedules a mess, but it'll get back on track once the medicine rounds are all taken in about two or three more days.
@PaganMother I am glad you are doing better, how is Jason and the family?
@Mauve_matelot Jason has officially retired, he and his wife are both staying in Grand Rapids area for his treatments, from what I was told, he will not be returning to working again in the condition he's healing from. So the family and I are just hanging tight and I'm searching for a new therapist that I can click with and feel safe talking to. My primary care is working with me to find one that suits my needs.
Thank you for sharing this update @PaganMother, I hope you do find an appropriate therapist for you and your alters.
Still sending prayers for Jason and his family as you all navigate all that is yet to happen.
If you are the praying type, please offer up prayers for Jason, he has been my emotional stone through a whole lot of trauma knots I've worked through within his care for the last seven years and his wife has been all too kind to share with me the details of what happened, given he doesn't live too far from where I live, I may ask should things take a turn for the worst, if I could offer some words at his grave for her, and for him both.
