Been having nightmares and interrupted sleep from the last few weeks of news about trans legislation pushing through many states in the US. I'm scared for the future, and for my family's safety in this nation, I had a talk with my husband about possibly fleeing to Canada if legislation pushes through in Michigan to hurt and marginalize trans in state and we ended up in a bit of an argument on the time it would take to get passports for all of us just to flee the country. 1/2

At the moment, I'm feeling helpless, scared and uncertain of what happened to the safety and security I once felt in my own home nation. 2/2

@PaganMother If they put tangerine king back in we are going to try to get temporary residency in Mexico.

@MississippiGoneCoastal I may convince my husband to consider that option, but I fear Mexico is just as bad.

@PaganMother No place is better than home. Hopefully whatever thing we are going thru is ending and better things are on the way.

@PaganMother Hear ‘ya. MI better off than other places w/ Dems in control there though.

@jaunty That's true, I worry for the folk across the nation though. There's so many out there suffering and scared too.

@stueytheround Just expressing it helps honestly. Knowing I'm not alone in this is a huge relief Stuey, thank you.

@PaganMother @stueytheround I feel your pain and send my best wishes. If out of the country isn't an option Massachusetts has several protections in place and is and always been a democratic state. Let me know if you need anything!

@PaganMother Generally, I;d say get passports now. They're a normal thing if you want to go on holiday, so it's not an indication of any type of fear

@Lucan_Mor I may nudge him to put more serious thought into it, I don't think he realizes how deep seated this fear really is for me.

@PaganMother Plan a holiday to Aruba, you'd need passports for that. You don't have to go ahead with the holiday but put the pre planning in place, including passports

@Lucan_Mor Preparation is key, thank you, this does put my mind to a bit more ease to focus on planning ahead for the very big just in case scenario.

@PaganMother I would suggest that you get the ball rolling with your passports. If it all turns out to be worry over nothing (wouldn’t that be nice?) then you know, travel the world and see stuff.

@MookyTroubadour I do truly hope that it turns out to be a nothing-worry, but yeah, we're going to put efforts into saving up and preparing paperwork for passport applications for myself, my husband, and my son as soon as we can.
