Come one, come all to my Discord #WatchParty server!
*INVITE LINK: https://discord.gg/ZWBTHb6HXg*
I regularly stream cult, horror, and/or sci-fi schlock, from around the world, old and new!
If you are not familiar with Discord, you will need to first make a free account.
Additionally, I would love to start a request list. Anything you would like to watch, let me know. The server specializes in the dark, macabre, bizarre, and just plain weird!
PS., This is NOT a streaming server where you log in and listen to the host talk! If you want to chat, that's cool, but there is zero pressure to interact. You can, if you want, text chat or voice chat there (publicly or privately) but it's ALL about watching movies first, second, and third.
If you have any questions or movie requests, please reply here or elsewhere. 🙏
P.P.S., I have an ABSOLUTE ZERO TOLERANCE policy on douchebaggery. 💚
I need to make a new user guide with screenshots for anyone who wants to come check out Cinema dei Apocryphilia for #Scarefest, #Schlockfest, etc., because Discord can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but what it boils down to for joining a #WatchParty is:
1. Sign up at the link
2. Click on the server icon on the far left column
3. Click "join event" (once event starts)
4. Click "watch stream"
5. Chat in the "Live movie chat" section or right click on it and "mute channel" to stop notifications
@Apocryphiliac Oh, and offer a tip to be careful of joining other discords that aren't verified through the membership base of the core group your in. For your own general caution, ya know? *nodsnods.*
@PaganMother Tbh, I'm not sure I'm parsing that correctly... you're quantum leaps ahead of me in Discord knowledge so I cannot keep up. :) Are you saying that Discord newbies should be careful about which servers they sign up for there? If so, can you elaborate on the risks of that?
@Apocryphiliac There's occasional malicious bots and user attacks that will spam entire communities with invitation links to new groups. Always best to be wary of any links sent to a discord account unless you check with the sender and know them well enough to verify that they are in fact the person behind the account. But I'm saying to be careful of random spam in private messages on there, check and double check security settings on the user end for their safety.
@PaganMother I try to verify everyone is who they say they are, but tbh a lot of people have signed up lately and I've kinda let it slip. I need to up my game. Thanks for the heads up!
@PaganMother I changed the verification level in the server to "Must have a verified phone on their Discord account," and also "scan media content" for all members. Hopefully that'll reduce the risk.
I need to figure out how to put a TOS in there for people to see at sign-up. Also, is there a way to make the server private and only accessible via pending admin permission? 🤔
@Apocryphiliac Okay, so for community servers you have to meet certain qualifications and it must be public, but the verification requirement is met along with the scanning of media content. It should be already private with access to the server via invitation only, but if you are willing to let me take a look at the admin settings, I can see if there's anything I can switch to help out with securing things.
