A lot of people are being played.

Occupy Democrats, Palmer Report, AlterNet, Wonkette, etc. They are the left equivalent of Newsmax, Fox News, OAN, Federalist et al. All are hyper-partisan outrage mills who misrepresent or exaggerate facts to gain page views which equals money.

Just because it matches with your political views doesn't mean it's accurate. Think for yourself, and dig deeper on your sources.

A benefit of using hashtags is that you can click on the hashtag in a comment and it will open a column with all the posts relating to that particular tag and of those using it
This helps to stay in the conversation and keep a flow going

Just spent some worthwhile time in my account settings, tweaking preferences and making lists of my fave topics to follow
Security and privacy is a big thing here, which is nice for a change
