"Manuel Diego Soza had no idea the trouble ahead when he threw out his old Texas license plate at an AutoZone earlier this year.
"Months after throwing away the old plate and putting his new CO plates on his silver Subaru Forester, police officers showed up to Soza’s Denver apartment and took him to jail on theft charges.
"But the thief had a neck tattoo; Soza does not. And the thief’s vehicle was a different model and color than Soza’s Subaru."

True, although they'll steal plates right off the cars these days. Especially if you leave it in long-term parking at the airport. Which makes the detective messing this case up even more absurd.
Hopefully making car theft a felony a couple months back tamps down on all of our car theft.
@Smersh @Dane around here it’s your tags they steal. That’s why when we put a new on on we scrape the old off m. Then we take a razor blade and cut the new sticker in pieces so it can’t be peeled off. #LearnedTheHardWay
