A couple weeks ago a took a few days off far, far from the big city lights. This was my reward. I have laid on my back and stared at the for hours. One of these days I'll get a polar mount that will enable me to take these properly, but until then my cellphone is not half bad.

I was a city kid. I still remember the day I first saw the Milky Way. I was 30, laying on my back in the bed of my pickup truck far away from any city lights in Idaho. It was breathtaking. It was like seeing a world you knew had been there all along but had been invisible.
