I really don't care if you call yourself a Democrat or a Republican. I don't even care all that much if you call yourself liberal or conservative. I only care whether or not you give a shit about people other than yourself, are willing to keep the world around you as clean as you can, and that you approach all challenges to your formed opinions with an open mind. On June 14, 2017, a madman shot 6 people, including then-House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. The news was met with outrage across the political spectrum. Everyone understood that what happened was horrifying.
Just three and half years later, the Capitol was assaulted by a mob incited by our own President and his sycophants. Steve Scalise and the vast majority of his Republican colleagues voted against impeachment, and are afraid to hold anyone accountable.
Cowardice. Plain and simple.
