I really don't care if you call yourself a Democrat or a Republican. I don't even care all that much if you call yourself liberal or conservative. I only care whether or not you give a shit about people other than yourself, are willing to keep the world around you as clean as you can, and that you approach all challenges to your formed opinions with an open mind. Oh, and be nice to animals. Especially puppies and kittens.

Nicely put. I've said the same thing (or close to it, anyway) for years. I don't intend to be political, but I care about individuals and society, so it's impossible to avoid political matters.
Of course, I looked up "liberal" in the dictionary, and frankly it (definition 1) describes me pretty spot on. Then I checked out "conservative," and nope, not entirely my bag. I can see why all my friends tell me I'm "a liberal" (though I'd prefer to just say "liberal" without the "a").
