It is a slow, lazy weekend day. I need to get busy getting ready for holiday guests, but I am moving slowly. I did get a blueberry clafoutis in the oven, though. It makes a lovely weekend breakfast. Meanwhile, while it bakes, we are sipping coffee and reading the news.

It is sunny here today. Maybe a good day for an outing to the park.

Over the years I have represented a number of men convicted of murder. I have always been perplexed by the prison groupies, the women who fall in love with a man who will never be free (or who might be executed). My take has been that loving someone from afar is “safe” - they can’t get hurt. My sense of them is that many (most?) are abuse survivors themselves, and by loving someone like that, they can do so safely and feel needed.

Regardless, it’s a bit sad and twisted.
