One provider has been putting up wireless Internet towers, but it isn’t available to me here due to the forest. The DSL is low speed, so we probably cannot get rid of satellite TV. BUT there are no data caps and it is a fraction of the cost of satellite internet, so I am happy about the prospect. I hope they are correct that they can get service to us. 🤞
So, since we moved to this mini-farm years ago, I have periodically searched for some form of Internet available out here other than satellite or (goddess forbid) dial up. AT&T has told me each time I asked that DSL is NOT available here.
I recently discovered Toast.net, which has a contract via AT&T to provide rural DSL. AND, Toastnet says that they can provide me with DSL! I am cautiously optimistic. I won’t believe it until I have it up and running in our home. But it would be nice, if so.

@UnTied @rstwohee Fun fact: the biggest case of fraud found in my tenure: the GOP drove a bill to marry the driver file with the voter file. They expected graveyard voters. What we found were up north cottage voters. 100s if not 1000s of cottage owners registered not where they live but where they owned property, sometimes both, to vote against taxes for local schools and government. Those were some fun conversations. Amazing how the privileged view their rights as having been impinged.🙄
I am promoting simpler, greener, happier holiday gift giving and have written a couple of blog entries about that recently, if anyone is interested.
In my view the rampant consumerism promoted this time of year kills not only our personal finances (with added stress induced from increased debt), but also increases the speed of climate change.
I invite you to consider shifting holiday focus from consumerism and embracing loving simplicity.
