So, since we moved to this mini-farm years ago, I have periodically searched for some form of Internet available out here other than satellite or (goddess forbid) dial up. AT&T has told me each time I asked that DSL is NOT available here.
I recently discovered Toast.net, which has a contract via AT&T to provide rural DSL. AND, Toastnet says that they can provide me with DSL! I am cautiously optimistic. I won’t believe it until I have it up and running in our home. But it would be nice, if so.
One provider has been putting up wireless Internet towers, but it isn’t available to me here due to the forest. The DSL is low speed, so we probably cannot get rid of satellite TV. BUT there are no data caps and it is a fraction of the cost of satellite internet, so I am happy about the prospect. I hope they are correct that they can get service to us. 🤞
@gshevlin I had the owner of the company come out and take a look. Due to the trees and hills, I would need a tower 150 feet tall, I think he said. It was prohibitively expensive.

@gshevlin Indeed. Had I picked property on flat ground with no trees, my inner Druid would have suffered, but my choices of Internet providers would have been greater. 😸
@Myrth Can you not rig something up to receive the signal on a pole? I read a few years ago about a guy in NorCal who was able to pick up an 802.11 signal 18 miles up a valley using a receiver aerial made from a Pringles can (this is not a joke).
