@redenigma I was SO disappointed when shopping at ALDI’s this week. They too have joined the ranks of self-checkout stores.

@Rickbflony here’s what I cannot comprehend. There are a substantial number of people in our area who voted for Obama……. and then voted for Trump.

It’s been years. I still cannot comprehend it.

@th3j35t3r I absolutely LOVE the wave of entropy. I was playing with it on a touchscreen. It’s so meditative! 💜

@kel right. No point in deactivating the account — Twitter will keep all your data. I think it is a very good idea to lock down the account, though. Definitely remove all app permissions and most definitely delete the Twitter app!

My election anxiety is very high this year also. Hence I have been doing campaign work.

The polls terrify me. But I keep reminding myself that Kansas and Alaska surprised the pundits this year. And, who actually answers their phone for an unknown number anymore? Old white people who vote GQP. So, I try to not let the polls depress me (with middling results).

I work Election Day. But once I come home and collapse, I think I will hide from the news media for a bit.

@bluesbaby I made that move many decades ago. Depending on climate:

-snow shovel
-boot spikes
-oil lamp (and lamp oil)
-maglite flashlight
-headlamp
-weather radio
-Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery

That went better than I anticipated, after the first word did so poorly.

A friend who is still on the deranged bird site shared this with me. A newly fired employee suspended the musky smelling owner’s account. 🤣

@th3j35t3r sorry to have missed this! But thank you so much for running this platform the way you do. I know this is not your livelihood, rather it’s your passion. The amount of time you must have devoted to this site recently, in light of these attacks, well, I can only imagine the hard work you have put in! Thank you! 💜

Hey employees getting laid off tomorrow! IMPORTANT INFO from a CA employment attorney (me): (LisaBloom)

CA's "WARN" law requires Twitter to give you 60 days notice of a massive layoff.

A layoff of 50+ employees within a 30 day period qualifies.

I know you didn't get that notice.

@DerMudeTude I hear you. Many major accounts are still there. But a few have at least dipped a toe into the water here. One of my irl friends has arrived here. Others are still on the deranged bird site.

@GirlMeetsBrass glad to hear from you. May your road ahead be smoother. 💜

@MaryNelson8 @CoSoTips I don’t think you can with the phone app, but with the desktop version, I believe you can with a browser extension.

@Richard_littler welcome. I prefer this to any flavor of Mastodon I have tried, specifically because there is zero tolerance for trolls or bots.

The Catholic Church and its affiliates were the largest financial backers in the failed bid to strip abortion protections in Kansas.

Now, they are pouring millions to try it in Kentucky.

@bdonnelly I had a modest account around 11k. I noted before I locked it down and left that I had lost hundreds. I won’t be logging back in again to check my numbers. It ought to be zero. 🤷‍♀️

@russhjelm

For hourly workers? Sure. Sort of. They have a 40 hour work week (🤣) and when they exceed that (often mandated) they get overtime pay.

Professional, salaried workers? Nope. They get to work unlimited hours for that salary and benefits. The law apparently assumes that this worker can always jump ship for another, less horrible, job for another, less horrible employer.

For example, attorneys. On Sundays they can wear shorts to work.
