BlueSky is essentially what would happen if Limewire had a blockchain baby with 4chan.
Limewire was that peer-to-peer music sharing service that took off in the early 2000's. It was an excellent idea on paper, but bad actors quickly turned it into a premium vector for all manner of malware and fuckery.
Imagine that as a social media network, then add monetization through blockchain micro-transactions, and that's what BlueSky will be. Since it's decentralized, it'll be completely ungovernable.
It very much looks to me like Jack Dorsey's effort to empty everyone's idle crypto wallets, but maybe that's just me.
@kel Dorsey keeps talking about owning the 'protocol' for messaging, which is just dumb. I think he lives in a bubble where he can build a new transactional decentralized internet, and then own the entire thing. It's like Zuckerberg thinking he can build and own all of VR.

You would think that these guys could afford to do something about their hubris.
@kel well, consider that all of these guys have 'contingency plans' for societal collapse that involves them being flown by private jet and living in safety with servants...not realizing their staff will just overpower them immediately and take everything. I've met enough of these guys in person to know they are rarely the tech geniuses that they are seen as.
