Hive mind.

My neighbor is going to move my car next Friday. They volunteered to do it for me. They ran off to the hospital to be induced today.

What do I do for them when I get back in 2 weeks time?

I need to repay them somehow. I never asked for this kindness.

I will of course ask if I can prepare meals, entertain the young one, or what ever else they need.

Ideas??

@MrsBentoBako I like making stuff like bean salad and ceviche, something someone can just literally dig into. I've done veggie platters with local hummus too. Gift cards are another option.

@MrsBentoBako They are having a baby? Definitely take them a pan of lasagna, a bag of salad and some garlic bread. I remember those days. I don't think I had a hot meal for at least 6 months. Maybe the first bite was hot.

@JusDucky
I have a Costco lasagna in my freezer. Or I could make them a bougie one with gourmet cheese from my former employer. Was thinking a veggie one. Their Thomas likes bagels, was thinking mini bagels for him.

@MrsBentoBako

Watch the baby so mom can take a nap. She’ll need it.

@ATXJane
Especially with another toddler in the house. Not sure I have that level of intimacy with them yet. I do know that the toddler Thomas likes bagels. Will work on that.

Any one of the following were extremely appreciated postpartum:

Already cooked food that's easy to heat and eat (include reheating directions)

Gift cards to local restaurants that deliver

The following I'd ask about, but I loved:

An experienced babysitter for a day so the parent(s) can nap or have alone time while someone is watching the baby a room away

A cleaning session - due to the urge to clean before they come to clean & you don't want to have to give them more work 😂

@MrsBentoBako

Oh, and our neighbor cut our lawn, which was also super appreciated!
