I am a big believer in the principle that we read the books we need at the time we need to read them, even if that time is years after we first encounter or acquire said book.
I started reading Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed today, and once again, I feel vindicated in my belief about reading and timing.

People always tell me I’m lucky that my husband is a feminist who shares my ideals and morals.
Lucky? That was intentional. I would never share a life with someone who did not think I belonged on the same level as him. I would never be with someone whose values were not things that I too would fight tooth and nail for.

The parakeet flock was silent to pleasantly ambient from 6:30-10:00. Then burn-it-all-down berserk from 10-11. Now? They’re gently chittering and chirping with cherubic innocence again.
