Do I want my kid to learn how to swim? Yes. Do I want her to experience mortal dread before and during swim class? No I do not. I tried to tell the barely adult folks at the front desk, she has #anxiety (and this kind of situation is complicated) it was like a “Oh yeah believe me, we get it. I mean haha, don’t we all?” Kind of response.

Took my 6yo to swim class today. Her teacher was absent. This was not great for her #anxiety to start. Then the teacher was a man & the other girl usually in her swim lane was absent. So she was stressed about that. Then substitute seemed like he was too cool for school. Flirting with the instructor in the next lane and half-assing assisting the kids through the water. Kiddo drank a lot of pool water. First thing she said getting out of the pool was, “I cried in my goggles.” 💔

@Yarnchick @Autumn honestly, I didn’t even think of this. Is it like a zoom thing? Because I would totally do that.

I just knit caps for my chemo patients, because why wouldn’t I? Didn’t even get to mention that at the meetup because the interaction was so damn icy. I’m sure me being a masker wasn’t helping.

But yikes. Knitting is knitting. My hat is gonna come out looking like your hat, right?

I hope you do end up making your meetup. It is needed. Maybe when we get our first woman president some of this I am right/ my way is the only way/ different is personally offensive to my delicate sensibilities nonsense will crawl back under a rock where it belongs.

@Idissent I mean I did have a canvas tote instead of a fancy ceramic yarn bowl too… to add to my utter plebeian appeal.

JFC. I showed up to an open knitting meetup club at the community room with a loom and hook and you’d think I was “the drunk, noisy, off-the-rack cousin” at the black tie wedding.

Pardon the dual metaphors but I was shook. Me and my knitting loom out here giving cooties to the unvaccinated.

Notoriously picky 6 yr old is eating homemade chicken salad on crackers and the turkey/PB&J sandwich cycle is broken!!!

Kiddo has locked in her Halloween costume choice. She wants to be a doctor. Got her scrubs all picked out.

She wants me to dress up with her (because I always do.) She said, “you can be the typing lady who tells people what to do and where to go.”

So I guess I’ll pick out my finest work uniform for the big night… 🫠
