@lisaannlm I felt the same way when I came to CoSo. Damn, is it a night and day difference from other SM platforms. We’re all just people here. (I mean… except @Alfred, but even he’s (it’s?) a delightful old weirdo too.) And “just people” is what SM should be about.

@Anouk @Museek FAFO. I hope he can never get his mail again without harassment so bad he has to move out of his mom and dad’s moldy basement.

@matthewchat frankly, the way the world is spinning no where is looking especially safe-havenly or affordable in terms of picking up one’s entire life and family and trying to book it before Inauguration Day.

@AskTheDevil shockingly, I just learned of all this today from that link another Cosonaut shared. I’ve downloaded calibre. When you send it back to your ereader do the books still look/function the same in your library? Also, if I opted for a kobo device, would I be able to load the ebooks I already have easily onto another device?

@MotherDucker I have, and it worked fine.

And then I found that I always have something interesting to do, and I do not _have_ to purchase books with DRM on them.

I've spent a couple bucks here and there on books CoSo authors have published, but ultimately I end up feeling worse for opting into the DRM system than I've gotten spiffs from supporting an author.

Who probably makes almost nothing off that DRM-heavy sale anyway.

Anyone have experience using with to remove DRM? Just a thought 💭 considering one of the links someone shared earlier—cannot remember who shared it. But it was a video talking about ebooks and kindle and how they can change or remove content at will even after you have purchased it.

Today was the first day this week that I didn’t feel like I would throw up or pass out. So, I took my 7yo shopping for some new aquarium fish, a snowglobe that she wanted to buy with her own money, and Christmas gifts for hubby. Might as well enjoy the peace of that season for what little time we have left for relative peace.

Personally I am hoping for some kind of Christmas miracle. Like a well timed myocardial infarction, sink hole, meteor, lightning strike, a TIA, DVT, anything really.

@Bleez but hate speech doesn’t go against community standards there does it?

@AI78 **Sorry-Not-Sorry about the lack of algorithm. Shaking that beast off starts out as disconcerting but comes to feel like “what was I even doing over there?!”

Hey New Eggs-

This place is different. Ask questions. We’re usually nice here if you are. Use hashtags liberally

Sorry, no algorithm here. You’ll have to go exploring to find cool people. It won’t be that hard. It throws people off but it’s better really.

Create filters. Block people you don’t like. Follow those you do. No bots. No ads.

If you find you like it here, go so we can keep the lights on.

.

I'm so incredibly grateful for .I honestly don't know what I would do without this place right now. There are so few people around me that I can talk to like this and if I didn't have you guys, it would be so much worse

Shoutout to today’s real victor: the idiopathic stress hives that were apparently triggered by the viral load of the COVID I had in 2022 and are just waiting in the wings to remind me of that horrific time every time I am stressed about anything else. “Hey, I see you are stressed about the miscarriage, oh and the election too?— Hey, remember when you had Covid? That was fun, right? Let’s flay the skin from your shins to distract you from that.”
