#InTheLibrary -- or out of it! My volunteer Eryn got to attend the Shenandoah Archives Fair this week and talk about all of the work volunteers do at the #MarshallFoundationLibrary.
Is that Wilbear Wright photobombing?
@CherNohio
This makes me so happy!
The world lost a great exemplar on Oct. 9, 1959.
There are many quotes that laud Gen. George C. Marshall, but the one I like best shows the humility of this leader-servant as he described the papers from his 50-year military and government career:
"I see little of historical interest involved, and have the impression that my actions were few, far between and relatively colorless."

"Get these blankets and stoves and every other damn thing that's needed out tonight, not tomorrow morning, and not two weeks from now.
I don't care what regulations are upset or anything of that character.
We are going to take care of the troops first, last, & all the time."
Gen. George C. Marshall, on a shortage of blankets during the winter.
Just do what is needful & right, take care of the people, & worry about "upset" regulations later.

Hysterical!

Most professors have stopped requiring their students to use books in their resources for papers ... they accept online material from sketchy sources ...
The librarian shudders.
@kwarizmi
Um ... I remember it in the late 1970s?

You all are amazing, thank you! It's hard to pull metadata from a document (for a catalog record) if the document is hard to read.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love our community?
#CollectionHighlight (maybe lowlight) at the #MarshallFoundationLibrary
OK, my lovely #CoSoCommunity! Please help me decipher this lovely penmanship.
It's from Apr. 1944, and begins "Memo for CoS [Chief of Staff] on King's memo." I see King, Pearl Harbor fleet, & Manila.
What do you see?
@th3j35t3r bootstrapping this CoSo community is noble. But all of us should pitch in whatever we can, either one-time or monthly, so itβs not all on his back to carry us. Donating via DonorBox is easy to do: https://donorbox.org/countersocial

My brother is going to be okay π₯Ή
His friend was able to get gas and get over to my brothers house to assess tree blockage yesterday, his long drive is doable on foot.
His friend is heading over now to bring him food and water. π₯²
GA Power ETA for power is 10/5, next Sat. His friend thinks it will be sooner π€
Thank you All for having my family in your hearts, it lightens my fears to know that you all are here for everyone that needs a little help.
