My daughter is losing her last rescue bunny today.
Miss Bea, after Beatrix Potter, joined our family 7 years ago, and she wasn't a young bun then. She is tough and feisty but has let us know she is done fighting.
If our community here wants to share comforting words with my daughter, I will pass them on.
Your message brought tears to my eyes for my lost Abby. It is so hard to say goodbye.
@MelissaHDavis
I’m so sorry.
@MelissaHDavis Miss Bea had a much better life with your daughter than she would have anywhere else (in the wild, especially). Not just better quality but much longer life, too. Sad to say goodbye, but be thankful for the time together... 💞
@MelissaHDavis My grandmother used to have a little wall art piece that read "Heaven is where you meet all the cats you have ever loved." I like to think that definition extends to all beloved pets.
May Miss Bea's memory be a blessing.
The hardest thing we ever do is say goodbye to those we love. Sending 💚 and hugs.
@MelissaHDavis To your daughter: I am so sorry. I wish I could tell you it gets easier to do this over time; it does not. (Now and then I get weepy over pets that have been gone for 40 years.) But remember that you have had the privilege of being Miss Bea's sun and stars for -- if not most of her life, the very best parts of it. This last kindness is simply part of that honor and duty. You love your bunny. You are a good human. You will see this through. Wishing you peace and joy in her memory.
