HISTORY! The Senate has passed the Respect for Marriage Act granting federal recognition to same-sex marriages by a vote of 61-36. Only 12 Republicans joined every Democrat in voting for the landmark bill.

@MeidasTouch the bill does 3 important things — repeals , requires fed'l recognition of legal same-sex marriages, requires states not to discriminate b/c of sex or race in recognition of marriage — but it does not require states to marry same-sex couples.

@Kinnison @MeidasTouch agree with the but not the 😤 we are ALL the same!! Just want to live our lives happy healthy and safe! Why put a label on it?
"Gay" to me means happy.

@MeidasTouch Honestly surprised 12 Republicans even did that. I don't want to get my hopes up that some will keep doing that, but there was that mild gun control bill.

Still don't trust them though.
