The unintended result of deactivating my old account is that there's no way I can ever retrieve it.
When I was on Twitter, I was given a 30 day buffer. If I reactivated my account within 30 days, I could just resume as normal.
Based on what I've read, retrieving my old account is impossible because of security reasons. That's something I never considered would happen. I guess I was just too used to how things worked on Twitter.
But now I have returned and hopefully things will work out better this time around. At the moment, I feel I'm managing my emotions a little better than before. I'm still a work in progress, so I can't promise anything.
I guess I learned a hard lesson on account management. I'm not complaining, it's just something I'll have to get the hang of. I totally understand why that mechanism was put in place.
But I'm here now and I'd like to thank the people who gave me such a warm reception.
@Magnetron1 sorry human, Twitter is gone. maybe you can make magnetron2 just in case. or maybe m4gn3tr0n
@crawancon I quit using Twitter quite a while ago and I don't plan on going back there.
Now that you mentioned it, creating a back up account sounds like a good idea.
@Magnetron1 On the bright side, we don't have piles of ads, a CEO that's insane, and loads of racism, bigotry, hate, and other stuff.
Part of why your account goes away when you tell it to go away is because your right to be forgotten is honored here. When you delete your data, it's actually deleted.
@AskTheDevil That's something I definitely took for granted when I deactivated my old account. I was too used to how things worked on other platforms.
At any rate, I'm glad that a place that actually takes people's data seriously exists. And of course it certainly helps that the CEO here is very good at what he does.
@Magnetron1 Welcome to being online. Where the posts don't matter so long as you get followers!
But seriously, I've lost a ton of followers, but I don't care. I just like being me and supporting people that matter.
@GrumpyWolf I'm not concerned about how many people follow me. It's just that I enjoyed the interactions I had with some of people from when I had from my old account. I just wish I could remember their names.
I'm pretty used to not having many people follow me by now. It's the interactions that I enjoy. If they end up following me, it's just a bonus.
Yeah, if you decide to delete your account here, it's gone. It's assumed that you weren't just kidding around.
@mcfate I certainly wasn't kidding around when I deactivated my old account. I was just in a very poor mental state at the time. As a result, I didn't consider the consequences of my actions. I definitely wasn't thinking clearly and I acted in a rather hasty manner.
I had nearly 30 followers & lots of content on my old account. Now I have to start from scratch with a different username.
It might prove difficult to regain the followers I lost plus all the people I had followed. That's because I really don't remember who all followed me and I don't remember all the people I followed.
As I mentioned before, I wasn't feeling well mentally when I deactivated my old account. I won't mention the details, but let's just say I wasn't in a good frame of mind.
