The unintended result of deactivating my old account is that there's no way I can ever retrieve it.
When I was on Twitter, I was given a 30 day buffer. If I reactivated my account within 30 days, I could just resume as normal.
Based on what I've read, retrieving my old account is impossible because of security reasons. That's something I never considered would happen. I guess I was just too used to how things worked on Twitter.

But now I have returned and hopefully things will work out better this time around. At the moment, I feel I'm managing my emotions a little better than before. I'm still a work in progress, so I can't promise anything.
I guess I learned a hard lesson on account management. I'm not complaining, it's just something I'll have to get the hang of. I totally understand why that mechanism was put in place.
But I'm here now and I'd like to thank the people who gave me such a warm reception.
