1983 - U.S. Interior Secretary James Watt banned the Beach Boys from the 4th of July celebration on the Washington Mall. He said rock 'n' roll bands attract the "wrong element." Members of the wrong element, Bun Man and Mr. Purple, drove by the White House,...somehow got Watt's attention thru his window (Interior Sec. has 3rd window in from the left when facing north), and Bun mooned him.

South Korea and the United States discovered their first cases on the same day. South Korea now has 183 dead — or 4 deaths per 1 million people. The U.S. death ratio (25 per 1 million) is six times worse — and rising quickly.

Prices fell more than wages, raising labor costs and frustrating firms’ efforts to resume production. Idle workers and idle machines pushed prices down, delaying the recovery. We cannot let it happen again.
