ON this date in 1916 - Adelina and August Van Buren finished the first successful transcontinental motorcycle tour to be attempted by two women.
They started in New York City on July 5, 1916. Bun Man and Mr. Purple shadowed les femmes on their journey, riding their Harley too.
Despite the persistent rumors of shenanigans, the Boyz were good 'Joes' on this trip, they didn't want anyone thinking they were going after Van Buren money.

ON this date in 1992 - Dr. Mae Carol Jemison became the first African American woman in space.
She was the payload specialist aboard the space shuttle Endeavor.
Also onboard were Mission Specialist N. Jan Davis and Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Mark C. Lee.
They were the first married couple to fly together in space.

Good morning. Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people at the World Trade Center in NYC, the Pentagon, and Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
Earlier this week, New York officials revealed a sobering statistic: For the first time, more FDNY first responders have died from their exposure to toxins at Ground Zero (370) than were killed on the day of the attacks (343), including 28 in the past year.
