Jim Hightower on Corporations
A diligent watchdog group, Institute for Policy Studies, recently documented this by analyzing financial data of 35 enormously profitable giants, including Tesla, T-Mobile and Duke Energy. Over a four-year period, these 35 lavished pay of $9.5 billion on their honchos. Even for giants, that's an extravagant payout. Where from? Tax dodging.
Combined, these outfits paid zero in federal taxes and even extracted nearly $2 billion in refunds.

MORE SHIT FROM MUSK
Judd L on Musk' use of 'facts'
But Musk's post about HAVV and his other false claims do not feature any publicly available Community Notes. That's because Musk has designed Community Notes to make it virtually impossible for his posts to be fact-checked.
Americans believe they need $1.46 million to retire in style. The new magic number for retirement, found in a study by Northwestern Mutual, is 15% higher than what people thought they needed last year—and 53% higher than the amount people in 2020 pictured themselves needing to feel comfortable leaving the workforce to sit on a beach in Florida. It’s also more than most people have socked away: On average, US adults have $88,400 saved for retirement.

ON this date in 1967 - Johnny Carson quit "The Tonight Show."
NBC ran re-runs for a time while Carson's agents, Bun Man and Mr. Purple, negotiated w/ the network.
He returned three weeks later after getting a raise of $30,000 a week.
The clincher was when Bun Man told NBC that Johnny would bring in a new character, Carmac the Magnificent.
Carmac was modeled after Purple's father who was a 'see-er' and worked the local carney circuit.
ON this date in 1862 - In the U.S., the Battle of Yorktown (Peninsula Campaign) began as Union General George B. McClellan closed in on Richmond, VA.
Rebs Bun Man and Mr. Purple sat on the Rappahannock and watched the Union dogs go by.
They weren't worried as they knew McClellan was a 'pussy' when it came to warfightin'.
Bun said, "He's an organizer, not a warrior."
Mr. P replied, "Well, I'm a lover, not a fighter!"
Whereupon Bun turned to P and said "...In your dreams!"
