ON this date in 1910 - The Camp Fire Girls organization was founded by Luther and Charlotte Gulick.
It was formally presented to the public exactly 2 years later.
Boy Scouts Bun Man and Mr. Purple went on their first camping trip adjacent to the Camp Fire Girls camp.
Bun convinced Mr. P they should work on the Sexual Education Merit Badge so off to the CFG Campfire they went.

ON this date in 1994 - Tonya Harding pled guilty in Portland, OR, to conspiracy to hinder prosecution for covering up the attack on her skating rival Nancy Kerrigan and was banned from amateur figure skating.
Bun Man and Mr. Purple always adored Tonya for the skater she was and fighter she became (as evidenced by her short pro boxing career); and those thighs--long live those thighs.
I took the Boys back into Morals training after this episode.

ON this date in 1963 - "Puff The Magic Dragon" was released by Peter, Paul and Mary.
The song originated after a long mary-jane session w/ Bun Man and Mr. Purple who, while co-writing the lyrics, never received their due credit.
The line 'A dragon lives forever but not so little boys, Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys' was direct from Bun Man after one particularly strong puff generated a new level of omnipotence...
Grace and contentment -
2 words to live by; my thought is the Big Guy up there (NO, not you Jman @th3j35t3r ) gives us grace which leads to contentment and his grace ensures my contentment...
At least that is what the Mikster tells me!
The Boyz just said you could throw a little of the Mikster's grace in there also, for good measure.
Bun Man and Mr. Purple, our membership team, invite all who wish to serve our community to join our club.
Bun Man laments that young people don't join service organizations anymore, but Mr. Purple holds out hope that youngsters will join as they will understand how community service binds a community.

WHEN I DID SERVICE CLUBS...
ON this date in 2015 - Bridgeville Kiwanis Club celebrates their 76th Charter Night.
This service club, long the envy of other service organizations in the area (save for the Soroptimists) has provided over $300K to children and youth in the Bridgeville/Greenwood area in just the last ten years alone.

From 1994 to 1998, I was Principal of a K-12 school in Plainfield VT. I left in 98 to return to Delaware to become Principal of the High School where I graduated in 1968. I supervised teachers who taught me.
When I left VT, one of the custodians, a dear sweet salty woman named Carolyn wrote this Ballad of Ken.
I'm still friends with her on FB.

A Nice Thought about Learning...
What I have found refreshing about learning the game of Golf at the ripe old age of 71 is that you find many, many learning helpers along your path.
At 71, you're no longer a threat, so that totally changes the learning para-dig-em...that may be paradigm.
We really need to take fear and loathing out of the learning process, it enhances nothing.
