TRAGEDIES REMEMBERED

I remember this date well in 1986, I was in my first Principal job, a special education school for students in grades 4-12 who hadn't made it in regular classes.

I was in a Secondary shop class and the news came over the TV.

Educational hopes of a Nation seemed to crash in that event, at least that's the way it seemed at the time.

Historybook: Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” published (1813); Painter Jackson Pollock born (1912); Modern US Coast Guard is founded (1915); Space Shuttle Challenger disintegrates after launch, killing all seven astronauts on board (1986); RIP actress Cicely Tyson (2021).

"I touch the future. I teach."

- Christa McAuliffe, teacher and astronaut killed during Challenger explosion.

M: You’re what?
KD: I’m filtering the nonsense.
M: Why so many clicks?
KD: It’s a LOT of NONSENSE, Melo…way too much.

D: Yea, something like that, but we're gonna play while we can...

It's getting to the point where high schools, those bastions of democracy, will have to have a mandatory class called 'FACT OR FICTION'...

Without citizens armed with the ability to discern between the two, democracy will cease to exist.

The museum’s president, Sean Decatur, told staff the two exhibits, which focus on the Eastern Woodlands and the Great Plains, were “artifacts of an era” when museums did not respect Indigenous peoples’ values and perspectives. He said some objects might go back on display, while others may not.

PERSPECTIVE

Quote: “Actions that may feel sudden to some may seem long overdue to others.”

New York City’s American Museum of Natural History, which gets 4.5 million visitors annually to see the squid and the whale, closed two galleries as museums around the country work to comply with new federal regulations requiring them to get consent from tribes before displaying Native American objects.

Morning Brew's take on tomorrow's NFL games

Good morning. Tomorrow, the NFL will play two conference championship games that will determine the Super Bowl matchup.

Don’t have a horse in the race and unsure who to root for? Here’s a cheat sheet.

If you love an underdog story and Eminem: Detroit

If you live in the Bay Area: 49ers

If you’re tired of hearing about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift: Ravens

If you’re the NFL: Chiefs

For all the marketing talent the GOP has and uses in their devilish work, they really have failed to capitalize on naming rights...

They should call themseves the

AZZ-KICKERS PARTY
