Like many chain restaurants, the spot where your entire high school would get dinner before going to the movies on a Friday night is having a tough go of it. TGI Fridays abruptly closed ~50 locations this week, CNN reported, as the casual chain known for its endless apps reportedly weighs bankruptcy.

Lost City Discovered
Archaeologists have discovered a Maya city beneath the jungle canopy in Campeche, Mexico, according to a study released yesterday. The ancient site, dubbed Valeriana by the team, contains more than 6,600 structures, including pyramids and ball courts. It is believed to be one of the largest Maya sites in Latin America.

Today in 1982, after working w/ talent agents Bun Man and Mr. Purple and hearing how much more fame there was to be had, Paul Weller announced the breakup of The Jam--one of the seminal punk bands (Town w/out Malice, David Watts).
Paul would front the Style Council (another underappreciated band) before striking out on his own--his talent has never been fully recognized.
