TEARING UP HERE...
REMEMBERING A MOST NOBLE BOYZ' MOMENT
ON this date in Today in 1848 the first medical school for women, founded by Samuel Gregory, opened in Boston, MA.
Bun Man and Mr. Purple, Boston Pub Crawlers at the time, looked at each other and in unison said "Hey, they're gonna need specimens."
It was perhaps their most noble moment in time.
The Boston Female Medical School later merged with Boston University School of Medicine.
ON this date in 1512 Michelangelo's paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel were first exhibited to the public.
The women who viewed the spectacle were particularly enthralled w/ two visages.
They were told there were no likenesses on earth, but they soon recognized the resemblance to Bun Man and Mr. Purple.
The Boyz became part of the Immortals this day in 1512.
The Boyz also reprised their role in their 1965 garage band of the same name.
Life gives you time, make something of it...
Lonely you stand, weak are your hands
Old man with too few tomorrows
Memories gone, friends passed along
Old man stand lost in your reveries
Life has been kind, to give you this time
To dream unrestrained as the wind blows
From Old Man by Tom Rush
ON this date in 1904 - The Army War College in Washington, DC, enrolled the first class.
LTCs Bun Man and Mr. Purple were members of the first class who were the Army's Best and Brightest.
I actually graduated from AWC in 2005 when the school was in Carlisle, PA.
Couldn't have done it w/out the Boyz watching over me...
ON this date in 1993 - Fats Domino's album "Christmas Is a Special Day" was released on EMI/Right Stuff.
It was his first major-label album in 25 years.
EMI execs Bun Man and Mr. Purple were hoping this might spur sales for Fats.
Bun said "The dude is not selling; let's have him do a Christmas album, that saves a lot of careers...(Remembering Reba and Shania)"
But alas, it was not to be...the dude lost his thrill on Blueberry Hill.
Bixie, you KNOW they are in on the fix too.
COULD WE JUST OPEN ONE CAN OF WORMS AT A TIME?
Morning Opportunity Seekers,
Ken-Dogger: Hey Kita
Kita: Dogger, this great resignation is puzzling.
KD: IKR, lots of job openings.
K: Well, seems the pandemic widened eyes for many, they saw opportunity.
KD: Peeps want choices, like working from home.
K: They want to get paid for working from home? Who’s gonna mention this to housewives?
KD: Kita, could we just open one can of worms at a time.
BE STILL...It works
Historybook: English poet John Keats born (1795); Magician Harry Houdini dies (1926); Mount Rushmore National Memorial is completed (1941); Actor and comedian John Candy born (1950); First female prime minister of India Indira Gandhi is assassinated (1984).
"You must learn to be still in the midst of activity and to be vibrantly alive in repose."
- Indira Gandhi
RUSH...MORE
ON this date in 1941 - Mount Rushmore was declared complete after 14 years of work.
While the 60-foot busts of U.S. Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln had been finished for some time; the busts of Bun Man and Mr. Purple were the final completion points.
If you look really close around Theodore's ear and George's eye, you can see them.
SOMETIMES, THE SLOGANS WORK
ON this date in 1968 - U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson ordered a halt to all U.S. bombing of North Vietnam.
Cabinet members Bun Man and Mr Purple along w/ SECDEF McNamara had been pleading for a limited war for at least 3 years and finally Johnson listened.
Regrettably, it was too late. Johnson would decide to not seek a second term which lead to a Nixon presidency.
Nixon's campaign slogan was DICK NIXON BEFORE HE DICKS YOU!! Surprisingly, the slogan worked.
LUTHER V2
ON this date in 1517 - Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on the door of the Wittenberg Palace Church.
The event marked the start of the Protestant Reformation in Germany.
Little known fact, Thesis #69 stated 'The Boyz (Bun Man and Mr. Purple) ROCK!"
I know what you're thinking...
I didn't think they used parenthetical comments back then either...
I just love it when J Man @th3j35t3r
goes all TECHNO on us.
ON this date in 1517 - Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on the door of the Wittenberg Palace Church.
The event marked the start of the Protestant Reformation in Germany.
Little known but absolutely 'factual', Bun Man and Mr. Purple were actually co-authors of some of the theses, particularly #96 which was dropped for some reason.
