ON this date in 1908 - The Sullivan Ordinance was passed in New York City making smoking by women illegal.

Bun told Purple "This will seriously put a cramp in our dating habits, ya know how les femmes always smoke, and dare I say, are smokin' after a 'private session'."

NYC residents Bun Man and Mr. Purple decided to immediately move out of the city.

The measure was later vetoed by Mayor George B. McClellan Jr, but the Boyz had already left the Big Apple by then.

@Madken65 My husband's grandfather, who was born a few years after that time, was vehemently against women smoking. He also raised and sold tobacco. 🤨 He switched to soybeans later.

Fortunately for me, I never smoked, so he liked me! But he thought women who smoked were "rounders".
