Where's @stueytheround this morn?

I'm spinning these Beatles tunes and he's totally silent.

Hello?

@stueytheround

Sorry to hear, hadn't seen you on so thought I'd toot some awareness to you...

Hope day rolls on better

@Madken65 @stueytheround Sorry you had a bad night Stuey πŸ€—

Ken - I hope you are not spinning The Beatles based on it being Ringo's birthday - he is the one that can sing the worst after all. πŸ˜‰

@Mandypar @stueytheround

Ringo was a bad replacement for Sharkey, other than being a good foil for the rest of the lads.

But yes, I was spinning them because it was his birthday.

I am comfortable with allowing him to remain a drummer, not all of us can sing.

ROFL

@Madken65 @Mandypar @stueytheround He's actually a pretty fine drummer. πŸ₯ Underrated I'd say. And he does sing 🎀 better than... me, anyway!

Rated #7 in the Top 10 drummers of classic rock...Ringo lives on

Some people make jokes that Ringo Starr is overrated. Maybe the only downside to being a member of The Beatles is you have to compete with multi-instrumentalists and legendary songwriters. But if we were to look at Ringo’s drumming skills, it’s still way above average. Besides, if it’s good enough for John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison, then it’s good enough for us.

@Sheree @Mandypar @stueytheround

Are his fills and beats simple? Yes but every single one of them is perfect for the songs. It’s the glue that kept their classic hits together.

β€œBefore Ringo, drum stars were measured by their soloing ability and virtuosity. Ringo’s popularity brought forth a new paradigm … we started to see the drummer as an equal participant in the compositional aspect … His parts are so signature to the songs that you can listen to a Ringo drum part ...

without the rest of the music and still identify the song.” – Journey’s Steve Smith

Ringo was low-key and it’s easy to overlook him but think of how essential he was to The Beatles as a whole. This is what we meant when he said drummers become the backbone of every band. And we’d be lying if we say we don’t enjoy feet-tapping or finger-snapping to Ringo’s drum beats.

@Sheree
Far from pretty fine, he's a drummer's drummer. Always in top ten lists. He is only underrated by people who don't understand drumming.

@Madken65 @Mandypar

@stueytheround
Glad to hear that! I really love Ringo's beats!
I'm a big Zep fan & have seen them live often... love Bonham but his showy protracted drum solos were always a bit much.

@Sheree @stueytheround @Mandypar

Oh, I don't know, I still enjoy solos, for me, it depends on how they integrate with the fullness of the song...

@stueytheround You have to understand I live with a Beatles fanatic. He tends to have all the solo stuff by them too To be specific he worships at the alter of George Harrison (my husband used to deliver milk as a kid to Friar Park). But there are two things I will never cope with listening to. 1 is the solo stuff by Ringo (I give you early 1970 and devil woman) and the other is the stuff he has by Yoko Ono. (I give you her screeching voice and toilet piece as examples).

@Sheree @Madken65

@Mandypar
I agree with you.
Ringo is no singer and neither is Yoko. Not dissing Yoko as an artist though performance art isn't really my thing.

@Sheree @Madken65

@Mandypar @stueytheround @Madken65 Oh my! I love George too BTW, your lucky hubby! My condolences if you have to listen to Yoko screech... I haven't heard Who Has Seen The Wind since the 70's but I can STILL hear it in my head. Why do I forget important stuff but can replay Yoko?
