Calling all prog-metal/art-metal shredsters! StarChaser is a new project from Indianapolis guitar virtuoso Kara Tucker. If you dig technically complex stuff I think you will dig this. Insane drum and bass parts too. It's head-spinning at times, big and loud and chaotic, with enough string-sweeping to turn Petrucci's head. Give it a tumble.

Shameless cross promotion!

@earthshine has a collection of music at fatecalling.bandcamp.com/

Solo acoustic lo-fi americana loaded with southern mythology and a penchant for wanderlust. There are a lot of different genres here, some experimental avant-garde, some straight up country, some alt-folk, it's a journey. My personal favorite album (now) is
Lost Songs from The Bones of Fallen. Give it a tumble. GREAT Saturday morning music.

I forgot that Mr. David Gilmour has a new album out today. Haven't spun it yet but it's Gilmour, can it be terrible??

It's a real bounty today:

-Worlds Greatest Dad, "Better Luck Next Time"
-Foxing, "Foxing"
-Dear Rouge, "Lonesome High"
-Lunar Vacation, "Everything Matters, Everything's Fire"
-Wax Tree Cast, "Entanglements to Affairs Pt 1"
-Hello Mary, "Emita Ox"

Add your new releases to the fray with the hashtag and have a great music day!

It’s a bandcamp friday which means all sales go to the artists and bc waives their fees. If you need some suggestions on what to add to your music library check out my indie rock podcast at 40ficreations.com/letsplayten. We just dropped our 2nd anniversary episode, so please give us a listen and find your new favorite band. Please support our artists with a merch or music purchase or even a “like” on their socials. All the info is in the shows notes. Thanks!

🎧 Molly Payton, "YOYOTTA". Ahh, Molly Molly Molly. What a journey this kid has been on. I've been watching her career going on three years now, I've heard her stories, her struggle to even GET to this album, the canceled tours, the homesickness, the broken heart, and she has poured it all into this debut album of REMARKABLE maturity. It's sweeping and cinematic, full of the wide open spaces of her NZ homeland. Just a big record, in sound and in heart.

🎧 Skin Yard, "Skin Yard". I'm (finally) reading "Everybody Loves Our Town", the 500 page oral history of the Seattle music scene. Skin Yard was one of the bands that just never made the leap, although they were about as close to Soundgarden as a band could get (Matt Cameron was their drummer). They just didn't have a Chris Cornell. Anyway, naturally I am going back and spinning a lot of those more obscure pre-Nirvana bands and this is a real standout.

🎧 Destroy Boys, "Funeral Soundtrack #4". Yes, DB has a radical-LGBTQ message, but people make WAY too much of that considering how good their songs are. And any record that starts with the lyric "I wanna spit on your face" immediately has my attention. This is DB's 30 minute manifesto. Alexia Roditis' vocals are perfectly menacing, and the songs are the kind of sophisticated punk that won't send half the room looking for something else to listen to.

There's a new episode of my indie rock podcast "LETS PLAY TEN" fresh out of the oven. We've got Ben's report from the "Mile of Music Festival" in Wisconsin, and as always ten brand new tracks to help you find your new favorite bands. Give us a listen and please support the bands with a merch or music purchase (we give you the links to follow). Thanks in advance! We are on all the streamers or at:

🎧Kue Varo, "Cowboy Witchcraft". I heard a track from this album on SXM "The Verge" yesterday and told my kid "REMEMBER THIS ARTIST'S NAME!!!!" Been spinning this 2023 release all morning, taking in all the nuances of this Calgray-based artist's "southern art rock". Lots of emotions (a break-up, the death of a close friend) swirling in a genre-hopping record that will appeal to fans of Neko Case, Angel Olsen etc. Loving this record very much.

🎧 Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Chamber is a giant collective of musicians - started by the late Greg Tate in the 90s. BStAC makes .....everything. It's avant soul and skronk and experimental R&B and outsider jazz and rock and trippy improvisation - often in a single song. It's 100% organic music made by people playing instruments. I've been listening to their expansive catalog since about 630am and I have no intention on stopping. Check them out:

Just arrived from the UK! My wife bought me one of my favorite albums on vinyl. Its been bouncing around the US for the last week (Chicago-Marietta-Pensacola- Indy???) but it finally made it.

The Joy Hotel, “Ceremony” (Blue/Red/White splatter vinyl).

🎧 Paul Weller, "66". The Modfather celebrates his 66th bday with an album of modern-English pop. Collabs with Bobby Gillespie, Noel, Suggs, and others add to the usual variety of moods Weller has employed throughout his solo career. From soulful tracks like "Nothing" and "Soul Wandering" to more folkier songs like "I Woke Up" and the near Floyd-like "Burn Out" its a really fine listen - sophisticated and totally enjoyable.

EP40 of my indie rock podcast just dropped. As always, we have 10 brand new tracks to help you find your new favorite bands. Plus, we talk about music that "brings us back home", confusing tour strategies, and White Board speaks! You can stream "LETS PLAY TEN" on any service or directly at 40ficreations.com/letsplayten

Thanks for checking us out and don't forget to count your bullwinkles.

🎧 The Joy Hotel, "Ceremony". When I heard their first single "Jeremiah" back in April, I immediately marked today on my calendar as "BUSY" because it was the album drop day. I can't say enough about how good these songs are and how hearing this band is a musically religious experience. The album is aptly named. A heady mix of americana and soul, with generous dashes of what Gram Parsons called "cosmic music". Needless to say, I HIGHLY rec this album.

🎧 Dusty Springfield, "The Very Best of..." The 20 songs on this 1998 collection comprise pretty much the cream of Dusty's 60's hits (with the odd omission of "Windmills of Your Mind"). I re-arranged the running order so that it would be chronological instead of the seemingly random program as released. Dusty was one of a kind, she picked the right songs, and arranged the shit out of the vocals.

🎧 The Beatles, "Posters, Incense, and Strobe Candles". This bootleg is legendary. WBCN (Boston) got hold of the early acetate recording of the "Let It Be" album (then called "Get Back") and rolled with it on air (knowing what they had was NOT the new Beatles album). Most recordings include the DJ patter and local adverts. A really fun listen. The WHOLE sordid affair is documented here:
