Limited data from some states and districts shows that students learning remotely--especially students of color, special needs and elementary school students--were attending school less often compared with their in-school classmates.
The data deepens concerns that the lengthy school closures will widen the pre-pandemic academic achievement gaps between poor students and others.

Had a restless sleep. This time yesterday @Don_DelPriore's wife, @Dons_better_half privately let me know that her husband, my friend, and our fellow cosonaut had lost his battle with cancer.
They run a dog rescue. Every now & then he'd DM me a pic of a new dog they'd rescued asking me to name it. I'd spend the next 30+ minutes trying to think of the most un-dog-like name possible for him, like 'Brian'... and he'd run with it.
Rest in peace my old friend.

Yes I remember well.
A good discussion, that foreshadowed all this.
The situation is still bad, stuck in a binary, keep kids at home without support, or bring them into schools with little support.
For those who remember, I posted a series on the school lockdowns and about what could happen back in the first 10 days of August starting on 8/1.

So I had an epiphany last night as I was getting ready for bed so I may be up at 4:30 in the fricken a.m. after a really relaxing well earned and deserved 3 day weekend.
I thought about all the people who say...

Had to chuckle to myself when my mind immediately thought
"HELL NO I WOULDN'T STILL WORK"
