@kel Yeah. One would still think they'd have basic skills for critical thinking, which they quite clearly don't. No Bayesian inference at play.
They just seem to be against everything that any normal person would consider good and just.
And if they truly believe they're in an existential fight with EVIL, that itself suggest cult-like thinking.
How anyone in their right mind, with even a shred of moral fiber and a sense of decency could even consider voting for Republicans these days, is almost impossible to comprehend.
They're just evil. Racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, steal-from-the-poor-and-give-to-the-rich, theocratic loons.
It truly boggles the mind.

@Treebugz 👍 Went Pro and donated. I’m willing to bet on CoSo.
@Cderbie Hi -- welcome!
There should be an option to sign up for Pro at the lower left-hand side of the web version of CoSo.
Made butternut squash soup for lunch today, with fried bacon, parsley, and grilled country bread on the side.
Roasted onions, carrots, a few cloves of garlic, and the squash in the oven, then added chicken stock, blitzed it with a blender and added some flavourful Finnish cheese (Koskenlaskija, if you want to google it up).
Delicious!
@panaflax Yeah, it’s a relatively short movie and can easily be watched even a few times in row.
After all, it will probably take a few viewings to get a solid grasp on the whole narrative.
But like I said, I don’t think it’s even necessary to fully “get it”. It will still tickle your brain. 😎
@Re1axinmood For starters, follow the Community Firehose (that’s all the posts that flow to CoSo, no algorithms, no curation) and see if there’s someone who posts things you’re interested in. Follow them. Use the search function to find things that interest you. Interact with peope — this is still a relatively small community. It’s easy to connect with other CoSoNauts.
Have fun!
We feel it may be beneficial to illuminate a crucial difference between CounterSocial and [insert other social media here]:
On CounterSocial, you must curate your experience yourself. No one is going to do to it for you.
There is no algorithm manipulating what you see. There is no means of importing your contacts. There is no backend working to determine what you like or don't like.
It is on YOU to manage your experience with the abundance of tools that we have given to you. #CoSoTips
So, CoSoNauts — if you’re interested in smart sci-fi movies, I highly recommend “Primer” (2004) by Shane Carruth.
If you can follow and understand the plot to the end, you’re a savant.
But you don’t have to understand it all after the first watch. Just enjoy an intellectually stimulating movie that doesn’t think the audience needs everything spelled out to them.
One of my favourite movies.
Don’t read the plot before you watch the film! 😎
@ianmhill Oh, absolutely! I’ve got most of his books and an autographed copy of Reaper Man.
I even had the priviledge of interacting with him by email and on Usenet, back in the day. Sir Terry was a big fan of Thief: The Dark Project, and Thief: The Metal Age, as I was. Still am. I also introduced him to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. 🙂
Such a unique mind and talent, Sir Terry.

@AndreaKuszewski Hello! Nice to see you here!
Geeking out! A courier just delivered my World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Epic Edition Collector’s Set.
@Dogofalltrees It would seem there was a hiccup. These are to be expected, considering what’s happening.
@LotSixteen Absolutely! Season 1 was brilliant, S2 was good but took a darker turn towards the end.
Keen to see how it develops. I hope it returns to brighter themes. Of course, it never was just a comedy, exploring also more serious themes.
@violentphlegm Sorry for the late reply — Finland.
