So, CoSoNauts — if you’re interested in smart sci-fi movies, I highly recommend “Primer” (2004) by Shane Carruth.
If you can follow and understand the plot to the end, you’re a savant.
But you don’t have to understand it all after the first watch. Just enjoy an intellectually stimulating movie that doesn’t think the audience needs everything spelled out to them.
One of my favourite movies.
Don’t read the plot before you watch the film! 😎
Love that movie! Needs to be watched at least twice in quick succession.
@panaflax Yeah, it’s a relatively short movie and can easily be watched even a few times in row.
After all, it will probably take a few viewings to get a solid grasp on the whole narrative.
But like I said, I don’t think it’s even necessary to fully “get it”. It will still tickle your brain. 😎
Yep, you need your brain fully engaged watching that one.
Another low budget sci-fi movie (with no sci-fi bits) comes to mind: Coherence. I highly recommend.
@Kryptos Upstream Color is probably my favorite movie. I feel like Shane really has a grasp on the “show don’t tell” aspect of visual media
