For UK and EU they have been compulsory since 2011 there was a start of a transition period in 2009. So i think kia skipped it
@Kinnison more so 2009 vs 2016 vehicles. Make just for context. My brother has a 2018 or 2019 Sorento and, while I suppose it could depend on the Edition, I'm going to be surprised if his doesn't have DRLs either.
@L_D_G DRL are not mandatory in the SAE for north america.

@Kinnison so? It's a 2016. My 2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara had them. I just would have thought it'd be a standard feature.
