US SecState Blinken says "if Russia invades Ukraine...we will be prepared to act" with high-level econ sanctions and other measures.
It's important that Russia understands this, he says, adding that the US will make sure Ukraine has the means to defend itself.

So, harsh words it is. I'm sure that's got Putin quaking in his jackboots.
They're only pro-life for the unborn.
I'm sure it will be at some point. They just announced it today and in a few months they plan to impose mandatory vaccinations.
It's like a ticking time bomb at this point.
You're probably right.
I've been there a few times, myself. 😄
Papers, please?
Exactly.
I spoke with my daughter's high school guidance counselor yesterday. She said that five teachers have quit since September, at that high school alone. Morale is down and there is a teaching shortage. Teachers are being asked to sub for other teachers. My older daughter when through their Future Teachers of America program and they called and offered $25/hr if she would come in and tutor/help out.
Teachers are hurting. If you can, be kind and compassionate.
Okay, let me be the first to predict that this is going to turn into a complete disaster.

Possibly.
I just think that if the situation were that dire there are certain people in Congress who would be sounding the alarm. Big time. Pelosi being one of them. She comes from a family of political strategists and then some. She's good at what she does and I believe she knows exactly what she's doing. And if she's not panicking, neither am I.
Bless you.

But, truth is, even after being steeped in this tradition, I couldn’t care less about Robert E fucking Lee. All I cared about was ice cream, Grandpa, and nature.
Fuck these confederate statues, including the one I visited dozens of times. Tear them all down, regardless of community backlash.
Grandpas will always find a place to eat ice cream with their Grandsons, even if a lost few have to drive 150 miles to find the nearest racist totem.

Our afternoons always included a truck ride downtown to get a vanilla cone from the drug store. We’d take our treats to the square and sit on a bench at the Robert E Lee monument, where bees buzzed about the azalias & dogwoods, butterflies occasioned the wisteria, and the scent of honeysuckle was abundant.
My Grandpa was a good man and I loved & miss him dearly. So, I can understand the resistance to removing statues & monuments when such emotional memories are attached.
Story time: 1/3
When I was 9 years old I stayed home alone in the summer. I had groceries and knew how to make sandwiches. My Grandparents lived two miles away and I had a bike trail that’d lead me there.
A couple days each week id ride over and see Grandpa. He was retired by then and we’d play with the goats, shoot guns, string fence, and ride go-carts.

I don't think we're too far gone. I think what we are currently enduring are the death throes of a political party that allowed themselves to be hijacked and manipulated for power and political gain. They are failing. They know they are and have been for some time. Death throes can be very violent and cause some chaos and destruction. But death inevitably follows. Don't mind the thrashing. It'll all be over for the facists soon. They haven't broken anything unfixable.
I don't think I would mind too much. But who knows?
I do have my moments where whatever it is I'm doing, no matter how much I love it, it feels a little monotonous. But that usually passes if it's something that I really enjoy doing.
