Is there a way to learn to play the guitar without losing a layer of skin on my fingertips?!

Not really. You build up calluses after a while.

@Jinqs Nope ๐ I consider it flesh sacrifice to the guitar gods at this point. Learning myself 3 months into it. It gets better but definitely painful for a bit.
@Jinqs your body learns to "toughen up" the skin as it's a constant thing happening to your fingertips.
