vote totals
2020
Joe Biden 81,283,501
Donald Trump 74,223,975
2024
Donald Trump 71,975,021
Kamala Harris 67,128,083
There are still some votes being counted in 2024.
Seems strange that such a hotly contested election with historic enthusiasm on both sides has such a low turnout
I'm told it's got to do with poor election infrastructure.
@tgraph52 NO... it is the fact that racism/sexism is a deep and long component of all the "red" counties. And it is STILL being ignored.
@JazzCrafter
I'm not sure how that translates to low turnout
@tgraph52 It is a multiple of factors, is it not? But to ignore this important factor in the media and commentary.. (except for Whoopi..) is not acceptable. I will put up a map of the actual demographic totals.. Steve bigboard style.. in a few days as illustrations of this.
@tgraph52
Let me explain.. In the apartheid south in the 60's, KKK intimidation and hangings, court rulings, and general harrassment of new non-white voters was aimed at lowering voter participation. this has carried over to today, where the thrust was to discredit the non white non male candidate as actually WORSE for white people that a convicted CRIMINAL.. Now I ask, would that be even possible if not framed in racist/sexist terms... It is a historical deep seated problem.
@tgraph52 Also, observe how this factor.. not the only one, but a significant one.. is hardly mentioned anywhere.. that is also a clue.. it is our dirty little secret.
thank you so much for your unwarranted condescension... as if I haven't been both voting and politically aware for more than a few decades...
bye now
@JazzCrafter
I'm not arguing with you.
Trump set his appeal directly at stupid racist white shitheels and it worked for him. And it freed those stupid white racist shitheels to be their true selves, in public.
I don't think that correlates to the low turn out numbers but maybe it does.
