@EdgeOErin One version of the full quote kinda shows Elmo's ignorance: "And those people should not be listened to who keep saying the voice of the people is the voice of God, since the riotousness of the crowd is always very close to madness. "

The influx of new people like me must be trying for long-time CoSo posters. At best, we are large and affectionate gold retrievers: Friendly and eager to engage in mutual fun, but also jumping on the furniture, slobbering on people's faces, and not always clear on what is a chew toy and what is an expensive pillow.

Also, here's a picture of one of our dogs watching a squirrel on the computer. I'm still amazed he didn't try and leap through the screen. Little dude HATES squirrels.

I mean, he's a jerk. But from a distance it seems he is acting increasingly manic. So either an episode, drugs, or both.

How much cocaine does everyone think Elmo is going through a day while he burns Twitter to the ground?

Heading back to NYC for the first time since 2019. Already voted, so no worries there. Anxious? You betcha! At least I'll have Broadway to distract me if everything goes to hell.

@OPSVeracity No it doesn't. Read more closely. While the article mentions that it is tied to gun violence (and properly makes a big deal about gun violence) , the actual murder rate, from all methods, rose ~28% from 2019.

Listen, I don't disagree with what I think is your main point, but we can;t just act like the murder increase didn't happen.

@OPSVeracity Hasn't the crime rate done weird things, tho? Like some things are not up (your graph), but murder was up substantially. Simple theft too, I think, no time to look. Was trending up a bit pre-pandemic, IIRC, but jumped hard during it.

@rpardee Ah! Thanks a lot. Interesting. I was left-clicking to open a new tab and look, but got the private profile thingy. Simply clicking like you said did the job. There's a lot going on under this hood.

On the other app, I'd look at someone's profile to see other things they said before following. Is that not doable here? Or am I just getting all private profiles? Or clicking on the wrong thing?

One thing Elon Musk has accomplished; is nearly as free of advertising as CoSo.
