Up until now, I have mostly felt insulated from the increase in disinfo over on Twitter. Mostly because I follow lists of curated accounts from The Old Days. But today even hardened OSINT people were struggling to deal with the firehose of fake postings. That place is nearly done.

Okay, I really want to sing the praises of the game "I Was A Teenage Exocolonist". Five stars, do recommend. Available on Steam, GOG, Itch and maybe other places.

TLDR: What looks like a cozy time-waster is actually a surprisingly compelling RPG story with moments of emotional wallop.

Erm, at the moment from what I can tell via polling, the vast majority of Republicans are just fine with the crazy far right. Not all of them (I happen to know one old school big business country club R myself), but most of them.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3: You will believe a talking, foul-mouthed CGI raccoon can make you cry.

This morning I had physical therapy very early, so I made an effort to slip out quietly and let my wife sleep in. In this quest I succeeded. However...

Basically, EVERYONE is paying off Clarence Thomas. Surely some of it must be, you know, actually illegal?

Wow, Substack's new Notes feature is barely 72(?) hours old and it's already about to become a shitshow over content moderation. Impressive.

I hope we aren't shooting down potentially benevolent aliens. We could use some right about now.

Why can I sometimes connect to Counter Social via my VPN and sometimes not (I get the banned IP page)? It's NordVPN, and as far as I can tell I'm almost always using a server in the CONUS, if not specifically Dallas, Texas. The basic FAQs seem to say both that "certain" VPNs are blocked and that "all" VPNs are blocked, depending on where you are looking. And there doesn't appear to be a list of prohibited VPNs (countries, yes) but maybe that is my Google-fu being weak.

Austin is iced over. Areas are without power, and one of our neighbors had a BIG tree just split in half.

Cold damp days like this one aren't much fun but are useful for forcing you to take care of some tedious but necessary tasks.

Had to say goodbye to one of the cats today. It sucks, but it was the right thing.

Somewhere there is a guy saying that Jordan Peterson is better role model than Andrew Tate. You *could* convince me that JP is a better role model than Tate, but why in the wide wide world of sports would you want to?

While the Bird site people are focused on...people trying to do their jobs, Another outfit, Talking Points Memo, is doing actual journalism, revealing batches of Mark Meadows texts as he tried to overturn an election.

A friend died yesterday. He'd been gone for a couple of years from my POV though. Trumper, COVID denier, Qanon. All the things. He made choices, and I can't consider him a complete victim. But I feel two things: regret at what should have been, and rage at the assholes whose freely spread poison took root in a vulnerable person. I will never forget, nor forgive.

Watched first two eps of Derry Girls. Liked them, but its a bit...something. Does the show evolve and how?

"HUNTER BIDEN'S LAPTOP TWITTER COVERUP!!!"

And...it's just a bunch of execs worried that something might be sketchy about a device that turns up at some random shop that even FOX NEWS is suspicious of right before an election. The screechers will screech, but once again it turns out that "Twitter ain't real life."

Feel like Kanye might have some issues to work out.
