See Puerto Rico as an example. There are still over a hundred thousand Americans there without clean water, two months after hurricane Maria.

There are. I feel for those people. But what it comes down to is Pros vs. Cons.

The countries that are blocked? They're the origin point for active measures that exploit every other SM service to successfully sow division among Americans. The partisan divides? They're capitalizing on them to turn us against each other. It's working.

TLDR: The benefit of few salient voices from banned nations doesn't outweigh the cost of having them here.

If you can't find the "Getting Started" column on desktops, go to the basic url, counter.social . There far right column will be what you want and where can click on local timeline, federated timeline, and other useful things. Once you click on one (or search for something) you can pin the column using the options at the top right of the column.
