Hey nauts —
Once again, I give you the authors of “How Democracies Die” and their latest warning.
No, not the one from earlier this week. 🤓
Read it, cuz free —
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/08/opinion/trump-republicans-spain-brazil.html
Zib/Lev continue on, noting that the GQP has already fucked up grossly (presuming they still want democracy, which they don’t) by the following —
1) Didn’t accept Biden won
2) Didn’t all vote to impeach cuz 1/6
3) Only 2 Rs with Ds to form ind. comm.
4) All but Asa and CC say will vote Don
Noting for the record that both Asa and CC are formers and not running in any current election other than prez. Must also say Rs did a similar dance in ‘15/‘16. We’ll see come nom time.
Repeating for (obvious) emphasis:
"Republican leaders' acquiescence to Mr. Trump's authoritarianism is neither inevitable not unavoidable. It is a choice."
I'm pretty sure that the Republicans made their choice, bros.
Assuming here that Lev/Zib are trying to politely smack those of "us" with the realization that the GOP is gone, baby...gone.
Time for ALL to wake up.
@InUnfunky And yet they remain in the US. Siri, define stupidity, please.
@InUnfunky You have to want democracy to get democracy.
EXACTLY. They know what they’re doing.
Like I said yesterday, this is all pointless, performative nonsense. None of these other "candidates" stands the chance of a snowflake in a hot bath.
It's going to be Trump versus Biden next year, pick your fighter.
@InUnfunky Home-run. That nails it.
@InUnfunky
Actually, I'd rather they were too.
@InUnfunky One way tickets, available
Next up, Vichy France and Spain post-Franco are examples.
