@LnzyHou Yeah it kind of sucks. Even knowing we'd get to this point eventually. :(

I visited mom today. She didn't recognize me when I first got there. She's gotten to the point now where she has to be reminded who someone is, & after some prompting she remembered me. At some point I know she won't remember me at all.

@gregscloud1 We actually have these where I live! Some are affiliated with local library systems, some are entirely volunteer-run & funded via donations. It's a great resource!

OK so can I just say that potatoes are one of Nature's gifts to the world? They're seriously awesome, little nutrient-filled packets of starchy tasty goodness that goes with everything.

It was fecking hilarious. Short-lived, though. Last thing I asked was if they'd ever been to the Cloud District. I think they were offended by the question because I haven't heard a peep since. I mean, what was I thinking, of *course* they haven't been.

I dropped into character as Rigurt the Brash from Elder Scrolls Online & asked if they wanted any stinky cheeses.

Yesterday I got one of those spam text messages from some rando out in the world, one of those "Hi! This is RandomFemaleName, is this my friend RandomMaleName?" Normally I just delete & block those but this time I was in a spicy mood so decided to play with them.

Incidentally, if I end up being killed in a mass shooting, I hereby give ppl permission to politicize the ever-loving fuck out of my death. You want to use it as fodder in the case against unrestrained firearms zealotry in the US? Go for it.

It's like collectively we're just fine with mass shootings in the US, or if we aren't "fine" with them, it's like we're powerless to affect change, because whoever actually *could* make a difference, whoever's in the position(s) of power to do that, they simply refuse.

Like we just have *so many* of them, we've been having them for decades now, the results are always the same: people dead, pain & dread & national outrage, & then... we do nothing to prevent it from happening again. Absolutely nothing. & then it inevitably happens again... and again... and again... and again... lather, rinse, repeat.

Is anyone else just... numb to mass shootings in the US by now?

@Dane Agreed. My remarks are for if you encounter a dog off-leash.

If you have to, back away quickly.

Also, you probably can't outrun a dog.

There's one thing I wish more people knew about dogs: they're hunters. They chase prey, especially prey that's *running*. So if you run away from a dog that you're scared of, *they will probably chase you.* So don't run.

@Wbtphdjd Thanks. Yeah they finally got an attorney in September when they visited the SS office in person and found out they'd been denied *in JUNE* and nobody told them. The SS office worker told them what the next steps are, and pointed them to the disability atty's office literally across the hall. I think they're in good hands now.

@NorCalCherylLyn LOL aw man yeah, I'm way too old for that jetty-climbing shit, LOL!

@AskTheDevil YES. Dogs don't even care, they just love you. & they seem to know when you're down & need care. When I had crying jags my old pup would climb up into my lap and lick my face and *insist* on snuggling. It always helped.

@NorCalCherylLyn Yeah I've been thinking about heading over to the local Humane Society shelter to see about getting a dog fix. I also need to find a 2nd job & am looking at dog daycares to see if any are hiring.

@NorCalCherylLyn Exactly! New pup, new love. The old ones teach us how to love the new ones. <3
