Did I hear someone on NPR say House Republicans are wasting their time on impeaching Mayorkas because they don't have enough votes to get any legislation passed? Because that doesn't make any sense.
OK, it makes a little sense--I can believe House Democrats don't want the Rethugs to be able to take credit for anything come November. But there's this thing called compromise, politicians are supposed to negotiate towards it.

It's all political showmanship. They can't remove him from office because they don't have the votes in the Senate (2/3s). So it'll be months of grandstanding about the border & the migrant crisis.
Because that's what Trump told the party he needed for the excruciatingly long election season we're going to have this year.
@ImagineThat The R's are just cray cray. Over the edge and beyond help. Just saying. 😣
@ImagineThat They have no intention of passing any meaningful legislation - fearless leader has told them to 'stand down and stand by'. More subtle than Jan 6th but just as seditious.
there is core group of 8-10 House GOP in the freedom caucus that do not want any bipartisanship and figure they can get anything they want. If they don't get what they want they can remove the speaker.
they literally cannot govern with them.
@ImagineThat
The Republicans haven't practiced legislative compromise since 1987 when Newt hit the floor.
It's not in the DNA any more.
