#StarTrek #SNW Had to quit a FB group b/c of all the desperate continuity lovers who could brook no changes to their 55-year old object of worship. Apparently, a strong-willed nurse who knows what she wants and a half-Vulcan who struggles with emotions together represent too great a cross for some "trufans" to bear
@thedisasterautist I love how Pike treats his bridge crew like they're just a bunch of really smart, sassy kids and he's their slightly over-indulgent dad
@thedisasterautist I do find it amusing in some of these groups that, while I'm old enough to have watched TOS when it was the only Trek available and yet, I'm ready for a change, there are people decades younger than me who won't let go of any aspect of a past that came years before them.
@GlennS: What I find amusing is that SNW has a younger Next Generation on the bridge of the USS Enterprise than the TNG had on the bridge and that the SNW bridge crew were essentially the generation that became the generation on TOS.
@GlennS i dislike Neelix and Tuvix and other than that... I love all the changes Star Trek has made over the decades!
@invisiblecatmom Neelix could annoy the dead. Most aggravating regular character in almost 60 years of shows.
I left fandom years ago and have been far happier for it.
I'm just over here loving the things I love.
There's nothing in the new story that would prevent them from becoming the characters we know.
They just never talk about that part of their past.
Totally believable to me.
@GlennS: As Captain Kirk lightly admonished Scotty in one of the films, "Young minds, fresh ideas. Be tolerant."
